The dissemination of information
about the Institute and marine science
research is a major function under the Australian Institute of Marine
Science Act 1972
(amended 1992). In particular, the
transfer of scientific and technological
information to potential users and
developers is an important ongoing task.
There is considerable public
interest in AIMS, on a local, national
and international level. Public affairs
programs undertaken by the Institute
include media coverage, ongoing displays
(both in-house and for trade shows and
exhibitions), book sales, and publishing,
as well as public tours and inspections
of the facilities.
